Professor Avijit Banerjee is a Professor of Cariology & Operative Dentistry at King’s College London and serves as Hon. Consultant & Clinical Lead in Restorative Dentistry at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals. He holds three international honorary chairs and is a member of the Board of Trustees for both Oman Dental College and the UK Oral & Dental Research Trust. Nationally, Prof. Banerjee holds several senior positions, including Honorary Consultant Advisor for England’s Chief Dental Officer, and is President of the British Society of Oral & Dental Research from June 2025. In recent years, Prof. Banerjee was awarded the William H. Bowen Caries Research Distinguished Scientist Award by the IADR in 2022 and the John Tomes Medal by the British Dental Association in 2024, recognising his global impact in clinical and scientific research in dentistry. With a focus on cariology and operative dentistry, Prof Banerjee has authored over 175 peer-reviewed papers and five internationally acclaimed textbooks. His most recent book is ‘A Clinical Guide to Advanced Minimum Intervention Restorative Dentistry’ ( Elsevier 2024)
